About me

My childhood dream was to become a shoemaker. For three generations, my family has sold and repaired shoes in my hometown of Antwerp and to this day, my uncle and cousin are traditional cobblers in the city. So you could say shoemaking is in my blood.

In 2005, I finally set aside my university studies in East European languages and cultures to embark on learning the shoemaker's craft. After studying for three years in the Netherlands under René Van den Bergh, I qualified as a professional shoemaker in 2008.

Whilst I practice traditional shoemaking, I also nurture a passion for contemporary fashion and design. Since 2005 I have worked as a London-trained Total Image Consultant and for the past five years, I have worked at Stijl, the renowned fashion emporium in Brussels famous for selling the latest creations by Belgium's leading names in fashion.

My inspiration as a shoemaker draws on this blend of past and future, of tradition and creative innovation.

Het was mijn kinderdroom om schoenmaker te worden. Drie generaties lang verkocht en repareerde mijn familie schoenen in mijn thuisstad Antwerpen. Vandaag zijn mijn oom en nicht nog steeds traditionele schoenherstellers in de stad. Je kan dus zeggen dat het "schoenmaken" in mijn bloed zit.

In 2005 stopte ik mijn studies "Oosteuropese talen & culturen" om het schoenmakersvak te leren. Na een 3 jaar durende opleiding bij René Van den Berg, behaalde ik in 2008 eindelijk mijn diploma van "Ambachtelijk Schoenmaker".

Mijn inspiratie als schoenmaker zweeft tussen het verleden en de toekomst. Tussen traditie en creatieve innovaties.

Hoewel ik het ambachtelijk schoenmaken beoefen, koester ik tevens een passie voor hedendaagse mode en design.

Sinds 2005 werk ik ook nog -dankzij een opleiding in Londen- als imago-consulente te Antwerpen en in de zaak Stijl in Brussel. Deze staat bekend voor het verkopen van de laatste creaties van Belgiës grootste namen op het gebied van mode.

Mon êve d'enface c'était de devenir cordonnière. C'est en fait une histoire de famille

A ce jour, mon oncle et ma cousine pratiquent toujours la cordonnerie, ce métier se transmet depuis trois générations dans notre famille.

En 2005 j'ai cessé mes études en 'Langues et cultures de l'Europe de l'Est' pour apprendre le métier de cordonnière. Je me suis rendue jusqu'en Hollande pour suivre la formation.                Après un stage de 3 ans chez René van den Berg, j'ai obtenu en 2008 mon diplôme de 'Cordonnerie Artisanale'.                                                                                                         

Mon inspiration en tant que cordonnière oscille entre le passé et l'avenir, entre tradition et innovation créative. Malgré que je pratique le métier artisanalement je reste passionnée par la mode et le stylisme contemporain.                                

Depuis 2005 je travaille aussi, grâce à un stage à Londres, comme conseillère d'image à Anvers et à Bruxelles, plus précisement dans la boutique Stijl. La boutique représente et vend les créateurs belges les plus pointus dans le monde de la Mode.
